Why We Need Salt

WHY WE NEED SALT!

Grey sea salt
“Man is ‘heterotrophic’. This means, man takes his food from other living forms, as opposed to the plants which are “autotrophic” meaning they take their food from non-living forms. There are two distinct forms of minerals: Organic and inorganic. Inorganic Minerals are Petrified. The minerals extracted from a mine are inorganic rocks. We cannot grind a rock and eat it. A chicken can, we cannot.

Common misconception: Salt is responsible for high blood pressure. The truth is, if you do not take enough salt, your kidneys will produce renin (an organic substance that will create a special protein which will raise the blood pressure). This is one of the reasons a diet without salt does NOT CURE hypertension, (ref Satoriz mag info). More specifically, salt is required for a wide array of critical body functions.

Grey salt is the dry residue of the sea water with Bio-available minerals, trace-elements AND several different salts. It contains a high percentage of Bio-available minerals and trace elements (calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, manganese, sulphur, zinc, plankton, algae, iodine and other nutritive elements). This is why it is grey. Our Extra-cellular liquid is actually Seawater

Sea salt is a critical nutrient. It’s the primary sources of sodium ions necessary in the sodium-potassium pump, which is the transfer of sodium ions out of cells and potassium ions into cells, without which, the body cannot possibly function properly. Sodium movement in epithelial cells of the intestines and kidneys creates an osmotic gradient that allows water absorption. The movement of glucose and other nutrients into cells is achieved through the sodium-potassium pump. Sodium is absolutely necessary to normalize insulin levels.”

This is only the tip of the iceberg concerning the health benefits of sea salt, without even yet going into the heresy and the misguided or deliberate cherry- picking misinformation, Diet Dictocrats present about salt and many food items. It is good for you, taken in balance and moderation, as with everything we consume. Good unbleached, unaltered sea salt is not the ‘deadly toxin’ other salts in fact, are. I used to think pink salt was God’s gift to mankind, until I found out differently. I no longer take Himalayan salt, for reasons which I cannot ventilate here.

Finally, take salt reduction advice with a pinch of salt.

French Biologist Rene Quinton (1866-1925) has been recognized worldwide for his discovery of the value of seawater. He proved that life came from the sea and sea is therefore the natural environment for human cells. He also laid down in full the different stages of evolution. Quinton proved that the extra-cellular liquid of all living organisms is actually seawater.

Law: Seawater has the power to sustain life. Each of the elements found in it has its own indispensable importance in the process of sustaining life. “A new understanding on Sea, Minerals and Salts” by Andre Delamare.

DRINK WATER ON EMPTY STOMACH:

Ever heard of drinking lots of water first thing in the morning with a dash of lemon juice? Well, it’s something that’s been around for the longest while. Said to cure  a myriad of ills, but I have tried it for years and it didn’t do much in way of making my health any the better. Rather, I hampered my health as a result, because I was forcing my body to accept water, at a time it didn’t ask for it.

Some people require more water than others. We are all not the same or with the same constitution. So, I went back to the days when as I child, I drank only when thirsty. This way, the cells utilizes and adjust the water levels in the body, rather than the water over-saturating the cells when they don’t need water.

It’s like watering a plant. Some plants live in water, but it doesn’t mean they are drinking the water they are in, throughout the day. They still only take what they need. With other plants, if you keep watering them everyday, all day, they will die very quickly. Our bodies are made up largely of water, but it doesn’t mean we go over-watering our cells, like we over-water a plant. It will only do more harm, than good. Follow the path of the animals…see how a cat or dog drinks water? Only when they need it…

By all means, put a dash or lime or lemon in your water when you do feel thirsty, if it makes the water more palatable. But don’t be fixated on lemon water in the mornings, because Ayurveda or some other article says so. There are three modes of nature. That of goodness, passion and ignorance. Thus, you will often find health advice falling into one of these categories. Depending on which mode is predominant in us, we will be attracted to a way of life which is synonymous with one of these three. We will have to employ our sense of discernment to determine which of these modes, is our health advice coming from.

Many so called health advice is often in the mode of passion or ignorance or a bit of both. Almost always, it’s because some company need to sell their products, why they come out with unfounded information, skillfully disguised as ‘we care about your health’ why we are giving you this tripe. They play on people’s lack of knowledge and profit from it, because in the land of the blind, the one-eyed is king.

  1. I’m glad you’re addressing salt. I’m one of those rare birds who, for some unknown reason, did not retain sodium at one stage of my life and the result was severe low blood pressure. Having salt on hand can save lives, as strange as it sounds. Thanks for writing about our need for salt. 🙂

  3. Thank you for posting this! 🙂
My husband is on a low-sodium diet due to recent heart attack and he complains about indigestion due to the lack of salt.
The Treatment Method: I did not know about the amount, but I practice water on empty stomach and the days I forget to take 45 min after eating feel completely different.

    • You’re welcome; glad something helped. Also look into a systemic and broad spectrum enzyme complex like Vitalzyme. It helped me with digestive problems. Yes, water is important, but how and when to take it, is also important 🙂 But remember, good sea salt is best and taken in moderation.
